When looking at these dog food
descriptions, everything seems fairly
equal on the surface. Buyers beware!
They are as different as night and day.
Only a formula owner or manufacturer
would know the difference. A sales
person or veterinarian would not have a
clue.
Here are a few questions you can ask of
the person recommending the “Just like
JaxMax” product:
1)
What grade chicken is used?
2)
How much of the protein is digestible?
(Crude Protein is a mixture of
digestible and indigestible proteins).
3)
Is the rice top grade or the cull grade
that nearly all dog food companies use?
4)
Does the rice have hulls attached?
(Hulls are terrible for the dog but
makes the Crude Protein count higher).
5)
How is the product preserved?
(Chemically or with natural vitamins?)
Nearly all dog food companies chemically
preserve their products.
6)
What is the ash content of the product
on the right? (Not required on labels).
Most companies are not proud of their
high ash content. It’s bad for the dogs,
and an indicator of indigestible
proteins. During the cooking process,
indigestible proteins like bone and
feather burn, causing ash as high as
22%. If you owned a dog food company,
you wouldn’t put that on the bag,
either!
